It has surfaced in various incidents that some private hospitals are charging exorbitant rates for Kovid patients despite being directed to treat them at government rates. KDMC recovered Rs 3 lakh 36 thousand 900 from one such private hospital and returned it to the concerned patient.
KDMC has already instructed all hospitals to charge bills as per the rates fixed by the government. However, some hospitals are flouting these instructions. KDMC had received complaints of excessive bill collection by 3 private hospitals. The KDMC had also sent notices to the hospitals concerned. Even after that, the management of a private hospital ignored the municipal notice and collected a bill of Rs 4 lakh 81 thousand from the hospitalized Kovid patient.
After the complaint was filed in KDMC’s flying squad, the entire case and hospital bill were investigated. It was found that the private hospital concerned had charged Rs 3 lakh 36 thousand 900. Also, KDMC recovered all this amount from this hospital and returned it to the relatives of the concerned patient.
On the one hand, there are instances where some doctors did not even care about their lives while treating corona patients. However, some hospitals that take advantage of people in times of crisis are reducing the work of doctors who have sacrificed their lives.
