While Samant’s claim made it to the headlines of some news channels, senior Congress leader and former minister of state for home Satej Patil has said that seven Shiv Sena MPs will quit Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s side and contest elections on BJP ticket.
The claims and counter claims made by Patil and Samant have come as a surprise if not a shocker.
Patil said in Kolhapur that once Speaker gives his ruling on the matter related to split in Shiv Sena, the MLAs and MPs of Shinde faction will be disqualified. The MPs will then join the BJP to contest Lok Sabha elections, he claimed.
Samant refuted Patil’s claim and said whatever be the ruling by the Speaker, none of the MPs or MLAs will leave Shinde as they strongly support him and admire the work that he is doing for the state.
Samant further said the Congress should be more worried about their party as he has a list of nine senior leaders who are regularly in touch with Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
These leaders will join either BJP or Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena and will contest elections as candidates of ‘Mahayuti’, he said.
