Wires and other materials in a warehouse at the railway yard near Kalyan railway station caught fire this afternoon. Fortunately, the fire was brought under control within an hour by the fire brigade. (A huge fire broke out in a godown in the yard near Kalyan railway station)
Adjacent to the Kalyan Railway Station, near the Electrical Engineer’s Office, there is a store of materials from the Railway’s Signal and Telecommunication Department. The warehouse is stocked with cable wires and pipes. Around 3.30 pm today, a large amount of smoke suddenly started coming from this place. The smoke was so huge that it could be seen even from a distance like Rambagh.
Initially, local police and railway personnel tried to put out the blaze. However, in a few moments, the fire took the form of Raudra and these efforts were thwarted. Therefore, the fire brigade of Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation was finally informed about the fire. Troopers from KDMC’s Kalyan West, East, MIDC fire station rushed to the spot. They started controlling the fire. Fortunately, the fire was brought under control within an hour. Meanwhile, the fire is estimated to have caused huge financial losses as the cable wires in the warehouse were burnt to ashes. So the exact cause of this fire is not understood.
