Attack on Excise Squad to tackle illegal liquor; 3 injured | Palava News


Kalyan 6 October:
The Excise Squad of Kalyan (Excise Department) attacked a vehicle transporting illegal liquor in front of Kalyan’s office. Three people were injured in the incident and the Coal Mining Police has arrested three people and started investigation.

Kalyan’s Excise Officer Sunil Kanse was informed that some people were bringing local liquor from an alto car in Chinchpada area east of Kalyan. Accordingly, his team laid a trap, inspected the vehicle concerned, arrested the driver and left for his office. However, the Excise Department said that 8 to 10 unidentified persons stopped their vehicle in front of the office and attacked the Excise team with sticks and iron rods and asked, “Do we meet you for action?” Three employees including Sunil Kanse were injured in the attack. So in all these conflicts, the mob took the driver and fled. Excise officials arrested some of the attackers and handed them over to the police. Coal miners have arrested three people in the case and are looking for other accused.
