(Innaugration of 2 lanes of new Durgadi bridge of Kalyan; Relief from traffic congestion)
This bridge is considered to be very important to go from Kalyan to Bhiwandi, Thane and especially to Mumbai. It is used by thousands of people in the surrounding cities including Kalyan Dombivali. However, work on the new bridge was started six years ago as the existing bridge was not enough for the existing traffic. However, after overcoming many difficulties, the bridge was finally opened for traffic today. As a result, thousands of commuters who go to work every morning and evening can now be relieved of most of the traffic jams.
This was a very important project for kalyan which has been going on for the last several years. Due to the closure of the old bridge, the traffic was congested and the citizens had to suffer from traffic jams. The new 2 lanes have been inaugurated today and the remaining 4 lanes will be completed soon, said Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde. Shinde also said that in the coming time, citizens will be able to use 6 new and 2 old 8-lane citizens, which will provide relief from major traffic congestion.
At this time, MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, Kapil Patil, MLA Vishwanath Bhoir, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi, MMRDA Superintending Engineer Jaywant Dhane, City Engineer Sapna Koli-Devanpalli, former MLA Narendra Pawar were present on the occasion.
