Demolition of affected houses begins at Railway Freight Corridor project

The demolition of houses in the Central Railway’s ambitious Dedicated Freight Corridor project began today. Under this, the houses adjoining the railway line in Ayre village east of Dombivli were demolished by the railways.

Work on this dedicated freight corridor project, which is very important for freight, has been in full swing for the last few years. The railway line will be connected to the busiest JNPT project in the country. So that it can save time as well as increase the freight capacity. The project is passing through Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts. In Dombivli’s Ayre area, 273 houses were affected, of which 105 were paid in cash. Out of 105 such houses, 73 were raided today, said Rajiv Tyagi, Chief General Manager, Mumbai Division, Central Railway. “We are also willing to pay cash to the rest of the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Railways has bought houses for some of the affected people in the buildings constructed at Kachore under KDMC’s BSUP. Therefore, this action has been started today and now this ambitious project will get more momentum.

So there was a large police presence to prevent any untoward incident. Shiv Sena mayor Rajesh More also visited the place and appealed to the railway administration to cooperate.
