KALYAN: The Kalyan DCP squad of Thane police busted an Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket that was being run from a flat situated in a posh Palava city locality in Dombivli.
The police also came across a website that was being used to accept bets on matches.
Three persons identified as Ritesh Shrivastava (44), Kunal Dapodkar(33) and Nikhil Chaurasiya (32) have been arrested.
According to sources, zone 3 DCP Sachin Gunjal‘s squad led by API Dinesh Sonawane had received specific information that a few people from the second floor based flat of Casario gold building situated in Palava were accepting bets on IPL matched.
Acting on information, Sonawane and his team with local police on Monday night raided the place and nabbed trio men for taking bets online for the Indian Premier League T-20 cricket match between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrise Hyderabad.
The police have seized six mobile phones with a sim card and 17 mobile phones without sim cards and cash of Rs 7,65,000.
