Kolkata: Bihar faculty lady Jyoti Kumari, who cycled 1,200 km along with her injured father from New Delhi to Darbhanga, will seem for Cycling Federation of India (CFI) trials as soon as the lockdown ends though ending matriculation is her major goal.
“We will surely send for the trials after the lockdown is lifted. She was enrolled into class nine yesterday. At the moment, we want her to complete her matriculation,” her father Mohan Paswan informed PTI from Sirhulli close to Darbhanga.
Left jobless and with out cash due to the prolonged COVID-19 lockdown, the 15-year-old was pressured to ferry her father who was unable to stroll correctly after a surgical procedure on his left knee following an accident.
As the story went viral, the CFI duly took observe of Jyoti’s unimaginable feat of biking greater than 1200-kilometres spanning over per week.
“Yes we received the call from New Delhi (Cycling Federation of India). We said she needs rest now may be after two-three months we will see,” Mr Paswan, who fractured his leg in an accident whereas driving his auto-rickshaw in January, stated.

“We saw many of the fellow migrant workers walking home. But I could barely walk so we bought a second-hand bicycle and started our journey on May 7,” Mr Paswan recalled.
In her village Jyoti had earlier recurrently cycled 5 kms to succeed in to her faculty.
“Jyoti cycled for long hours even during the night and we managed to hitch rides on trucks and tractors for stretches across Uttar Pradesh,” he stated.
The District Magistrate of Darbhanga has additionally reached out to her and enrolled her at school 9 on the Pindaruch High School.
She has additionally been given a model new bicycle, faculty uniform and sneakers for her larger schooling.
