Kalyan Dombivli has been ranked 12th in the country in the ‘Ease of Living Index’ survey conducted by the Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs for the year 2020. In particular, Kalyan Dombivali has overtaken Nagpur as the vice capital of Maharashtra, Nashik as the wine capital and Pimpri Chinchwad as the prosperous city.
The survey was conducted last year by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in 111 cities with a population of over one million. In which more than 32 lakh citizens from all these cities participated. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri recently announced the results of the survey.
Among the top 10 cities, Bangalore (66.70 points) 1st, Pune (66.27 points) 2nd, Ahmedabad (64.87 points) 3rd, Chennai (62.61) 4th, Surat (61.73) 5th, Navi Mumbai (61.60) 6th, Coimbatore (59.72) 7th, Vadodara (59.24) is ranked 8th, Indore (58.58) is ranked 9th and Mumbai Suburbs (58.23) are ranked 10th. This is followed by Thane city with 58.16 marks and 11th position followed by Kalyan Dombivali with 58.71 marks. In this survey conducted in 2018, Kalyan Dombivali was ranked 50th.
The Ease of Living Survey of 111 cities surveyed the living standards, economic viability, socio-cultural and educational security of the city, employment opportunities, sanitation, public lands, land use, waste management, citizen response, municipal administration Quality, financial condition of the municipality, technology, management etc. were the major factors involved. After considering the coefficients given by the citizens, the Central Government then announced the list and number of ‘livable cities’.
