The Mumbai Crime Branch on Thursday arrested as many as five people accused of cheating working class people by giving them offers to work internationally. The police reportedly received as many as 63 passports from the accused allegedly involved in the racket.
According to the police, the job seekers registered a complaint that they had been allegedly cheated by the suspects as they received fake job offer letters from companies in different countries after they paid the amount demanded by the accused.
Following the incident, a case was registered under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120(B) of the IPC and Section 10, 24 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 10, 24 of the Indian Immigration Act, said DCP Raj Tilak Roushan, Mumbai Crime Branch.

The arrested accused were reportedly identified as 45-year-old Ramkrupal Kushwaha, 33-year-old Rohit Sinha, 30-year-old Ashishkumar Mahto, 22-year-old Rahul Chowdhary, and 40-year-old Amitosh Gupta.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested as many as two people for luring youngsters with jobs offered abroad. The accused used to cheat youngsters by asking to pay them around Rs 50,000-1 lakh. When the victims demanded the return of their passports, they would demand an extortion payment in exchange.
The police said that the accused group operated recruitment and placement services at Shahid Bhagat Singh Road in south Mumbai under the name Bombay Consultancy. They also lured young people with the promise of an employment package worth between Rs 50,000 and Rs 80,000 in Azerbaijan, as reported by the Times of India.
