The initiative will be led by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
In response to the escalating cases of online financial fraud originating from apps and websites, often operated from abroad, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced the development of a comprehensive ‘Dynamic Platform.’ This initiative aims to provide a swift and coordinated response to curb instances of online fraud. All the necessary features and tools will be integrated into a single application for efficient management.
Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis shared further details, stating that investigations, in collaboration with various states, are underway against traders and companies involved in fraudulent activities. Should the investment funds be traced abroad, assistance from the Enforcement Directorate under the Prevention of Financial Misappropriation Act will be sought. The first charge sheet in these cases has already been filed, and as the investigation progresses, additional charges may be brought against the accused.
Fadnavis emphasized that a total of 35 individuals have been identified in the ongoing investigation, with 13 already under arrest. To address financial fraud through apps operated from foreign locations, both the central and state governments are actively amending relevant legislation. The state government has initiated the process by inviting tenders for the creation of the ‘dynamic platform,’ receiving responses from several global companies.
In the initial phase, the ‘Dynamic Platform’ will be implemented within specific police constituencies and commissionerates, focusing on efficient financial intelligence and crime prevention. Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted the need to combat the increasing cases of fraud involving citizens taking pictures with public representatives. Acknowledging the rising instances of cheating using such photographs, he underscored the importance of a comprehensive approach to tackle financial fraud, ensuring accountability for both principal and accomplices.
