Mumbai Traffic Advisory: The Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory to tackle the congestion on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway during the ongoing Christmas Holidays, which began today and will end on December 25, 2023.
All Heavy Vehicle Owners/Drivers Associations have been advised to plan their journeys on the Pune Channel of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway after noon on the specified days.
To prevent potential traffic jams, particularly in the ghat sections, heavy vehicles on the expressway will be temporarily halted before entering these areas. Once congestion subsides, these vehicles will be redirected to their intended routes. Historical data has highlighted that the convergence of heavy vehicles and cars during peak hours, from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, often leads to traffic congestion in the ghats.
Frustrated netizens have taken to social media to express their displeasure with the current traffic situation on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
One user mentioned the challenges of poorly managed traffic, stating, “Mumbai Pune Expressway is becoming increasingly chaotic,” and highlighted issues with one-way traffic causing significant delays.
Another user shared a personal experience, describing today’s traffic as the worst encountered and expressing concerns about surpassing last year’s record travel time.
