NCP district president Jagannath (Appa) Shinde has warned that the NCP will continue its river rescue agitation if no assurance is given in the meeting with the Municipal Commissioner regarding Ulhas river pollution. In this regard, Jagannath Shinde met KDMC City Engineer Sapna Koli-Devanpalli today.
As an MLA, we have been following up with the government on pollution in the Ulhas River for the last 6 years. We are also demanding the government to take necessary measures to make this river pollution free. At present, there is an agitation on this issue and it seems that the work of KDMC’s STP project is incomplete, said Jagannath Shinde. Also on Tuesday, the Municipal Commissioner Dr. about this question. He will also meet Vijay Suryavanshi and warned that the NCP will continue its agitation unless concrete assurances are received.
Meanwhile, Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation is working on a project to release water from 5 nallas into the river under phase 2 of Amrut Yojana. The work is 70 per cent complete and will be completed by the end of May, said city engineer Sapna Koli Devanpalli. A tender has also been issued for the removal of water hyacinth from the Ulhas river and the work will be completed in the next 15 days, city engineers said.
