Stating that the invitee list has been kept very low, the functionary said only 5,000-6,000 people from across the country would be invited to Ayodhya when Prime Minister Narendra Modi performs the Pran Pratistha (ritual consecration) at the newly constructed temple of Lord Ram. A few days ago, the Prime Minister inaugurated the newly renovated airport at Ayodhya. The Shri Ram Mandir Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has sent out invites to dignitaries across the country for the event. The list includes names of senior political leaders, cricketers, sports persons and eminent personalities from various fields. Some politicians such as Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar however have not made it to the list.
Industrialists Dr Baba Kalyani and Amit Kalyani, sportspersons Kavita Raut and Anjali Bhagwat as well as social activists Anna Hazare are also on the list. “The list is collated to ensure all sectors, mainly from the social fields, are covered,” the functionary said. Besides the big names, the list also includes people who have been associated with the movement for construction of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
Popatrao Pawar confirmed to The Indian Express that he has received the invitation and will attend the event. Shooter Anjali Bhagwat’s office also confirmed that she has received the invite and would attend the event.
