Pune: Rajya Sabha member and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday said that the state government is giving fake figures about foreign direct investment.
Over 17 big projects have been shifted from Maharashtra to Gujarat, but the chief minister and deputy chief ministers have kept mum.
“Employment opportunities for our sons of soil are being taken away. The industries are going away from the state to Gujarat and drugs are coming to Maharashtra. Gujarat has become a hub for drug transport. A large quantity was confiscated at Mundra port,” Raut told reporters on Sunday.
He added that the BJP has converted the Ram Mandir inauguration in Ayodhya into a political event.
The Sena (UBT) leader said big projects like the diamond industry, submarine projects, and car manufacturers were to be set up in Maharashtra but shifted to Gujarat. “Such a shift by force is no less than robbery,” he added.
He said that the inauguration programme has become a one-party campaign to which the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is sending out invitations as if it was the party’s personal programme.
“The inauguration ceremony could be a programme to highlight Indian culture. But the BJP has made it a political event. It should have been organised in a manner where it is seen as the nation’s programme,” he said.
Raut said the state and Union governments are not paying attention to farmers’ issues.
“They should answer what happened to their promises of doubling farmers’ income. Onion farmers and others are suffering heavy losses. But the authorities are not paying any heed to their issues. Their discontent will be widely visible,” he said.
