Kalyan 6 July:
Trade unions have called for a statewide strike since yesterday as discussions on employment and other issues of contract workers at MSEDCL, Mahatransport and Mahanirmithi have failed.
Discussions were held with MSEDCL officials and trade union officials through a video conference on 3 July. The discussions that have been held by MSEDCL in the last several agitations have not been implemented till date, the existing circulars are not being implemented, no action is being taken against the contractors and now we can get those contract workers Not able to hire people who have been working for the last 10 to 15 years. Administration was prompt. Manoj Manuchari, president of the union’s Welfare Circle, said the talks were unsuccessful as the administration gave no firm assurance that the government would take policy decisions on job security for 7,000 contract workers as well as their accommodation.
Meanwhile, a letter has been sent to the Chief Minister, Energy Minister and Principal Energy Secretary on 8 June regarding the agitation and said that none of them have been called for discussion yet.
Therefore, the union has appealed to the contract workers of the three companies to join the indefinite strike from July 7. The organization has also warned that the government and the Department of Energy will be responsible for the situation created by the movement.
