Action was taken against 52 power thieves on Tuesday and Wednesday under a division of MSEDCL’s Welfare East Division. According to MSEDCL, builders in the ten buildings of the Galaxy Residency and Imperial Society were found to supply electricity directly to the flat owners with fake meters.
Kalyan Circle Chief Engineer, Dinesh Aggarwal has appealed citizens to use the online facility of MSEDCL website, mobile app or apply for official connection through the nearest MSEDCL office.
The galaxy residency and the Imperial Society inspected the power supply of 360 flats at Adivali and Dhokli. According to MSEDCL, unauthorized and illegal use of electricity was seen at 52 locations. It was found that these thieves stole 82,000 units of electricity worth about 8 lakh 20 thousand. The notice has been issued to pay for the stolen electricity along with the fine to the concerned and criminal action will be taken against those who did not pay.
During the operation, the builder was found to have installed fake meters at five locations and direct use of electricity at other locations. Chief Engineer Dinesh Agarwal has appealed to the people to use electricity only with official connections to avoid any action.
This action was taken under the guidance of Superintending Engineer of Kalyan-1 Divisional Office, Chief Engineer Dinesh Aggarwal, Executive Engineer Sunil Kakade of Kalyan East Division Office. , Devendra Patole and a team of 15 independent technical staff.
