Five people were taken into custody on Saturday after more than 300 grams of heroin were found in a scrap business in the Meherpur Botertol district, Cachar in Assam, according to a senior police officer.
The owner of a scrap shop, Amaj Hussain Barbhuyia (30), a member of his staff, Mostak Ahmed (25), Rajan Ahmed (21), Chumki Begum Mazumdar (above 18), and a third individual, Mokbul Alam Laskar (29), were among the people who were taken into custody.
According to Numal Mahatta, the superintendent of police for the Cachar area, the accused had nine soap cases carrying 306.51 grams of heroin retrieved from them.
Detailing about the raid, the SP told ANI, “Acting on a reliable source regarding the delivery of drugs consignment at Meherpur Botertol area in a scrap shop of Amaj Hussain Barbhuiya, the raid was conducted on Friday.”
According to the SP, Barbhuiya and his employee Mostak Ahmed were detained and questioned.
The people who were arrested admitted under questioning that the narcotics shipment was supposed to be delivered to his store.
According to the SP, Rajan Ahmed and Chumki Begum, who arrived on a bike to deliver the narcotics cargo, were also taken into custody after police set up a trap.
