This is a residential Degree Course that aims to equip the students with critical legal thinking for the entry level of Judiciary and a successful Lawyer. Its curriculum focuses on pluralism, social integration, and socio-cultural structure of the State. Mock Trials, Clinical legal Education and field visits are the integral part of the curriculum through which students understand the application of classroom teaching and appreciate the socio-economic and legal issues.
The Five-Year course comprises intensive and exhaustive practical training with regular Internships and Judicial Clerkship and Six months of Apprenticeship (Semester-X) under the guardianship of High Court Justices and District Judges.
Eligibility: Applicant must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with 45% marks/equivalent grade (40% marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to Reserved Categories including candidates belonging to PWD Category). Applicants should not be more than 20 years as on the date of application (should have been born between June 30, 2004 and June 30, 2024).
Applicants must have appeared in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2024 conducted on December 3, 2023.
There are 60 seats of which 23 are unreserved and the rest are reserved for various categories from Maharashtra. Details are given in the Notification at https://www.nlunagpur.ac.in/ (Announcements link).
Application: Applications can be submitted online at https://erp.nlunagpur.ac.in/ latest by January 10, 2024. Application Fee is Rs.1,500/- (Rs.1,000/- for Reserved Candidates including PWD Candidates).
Selection: The selection process includes shortlisting based on CLAT 2024 rank, Group discussion; Psychometric Test and Personal Interaction. A total of 300 applicants will be shortlisted based on the CLAT 2024 Rank. The shortlisted candidates will be invited for Group Discussion and based on the performance in the Group Discussion, 180 candidates will be shortlisted to the next level. They will appear for a Psychometric Test and will have interaction with the selection panel including sitting Hon’ble Judges of the High Court, Academicians and Psychologists. As on date, the Group Discussion and Psychometric Test will be conducted online. However, the Personal Interaction will be conducted physically / in person at the University. Changes if any, in the mode of conduct of Group Discussion, Psychometric Test and Personal Interaction will be intimated on the website.
First shortlist based on CLAT 2024 Rank will be announced on January 18, 2024. Group Discussion (GD) will be on January 20 and 21, 2024. Second Shortlist based on GD will be released on January 23, 2024. Psychometric Test will be on January 24, 2024 and Personal Interaction on January 26, 27 and 28, 2024 (Tentative). Result and Rank List will be published on February 5, 2024 (Tentative).
