- Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions is forecast in some pockets over northeast Rajasthan and isolated pockets over northwest Rajasthan.

A fresh western disturbance is expected to bring isolated to scattered light rainfall or snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region from Saturday, January 7.
Meanwhile, a trough runs from southeast Uttar Pradesh to west Vidarbha in the lower tropospheric levels. Under its influence, isolated light rainfall may occur over South Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada during the next 24 hours.
Due to light winds and high moisture near the surface over Indo-Gangetic plains, dense to very dense fog is very likely to continue in some to many pockets during night/morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during the next two days; and in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand and Rajasthan during the next two days.
Dense fog is expected in isolated pockets over Bihar during the next five days; and over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 24 hours.
Additionally, frigid weather will continue to affect Northern and Northwestern India, with cold to severe cold-day conditions forecast in isolated to some pockets over Uttar Pradesh during the next five days; and over Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana during the next two days.
Cold-day conditions in isolated pockets are also possible over Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Ground frost conditions are also expected in isolated pockets over North Rajasthan during the next 24 hours.
Further, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in isolated to some pockets is very likely over North Rajasthan during the next 24 hours. Cold wave conditions in isolated pockets are possible over Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the next 24 hours.
As for the mercury levels, maximum temperatures are forecast to stay well below normal over northern India and above average over the southern half of the subcontinent for several days. Overnight minimums are expected to be around 5 °C in Delhi-NCR until Friday night and then rise above or near normal towards the weekend.
