Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar on Thursday wrote to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa demanding the withdrawal of the case registered in opposition to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi over tweets by the celebration on PM CARES Fund.
In his letter to the Chief Minister, state Home Minister, Director General of Police and Shivamogga Superintendent of Police, Mr Shivakumar additionally sought suspension of the cop who registered the FIR within the matter.
“We hereby demand your goodself to withdraw the said FIR and to suspend the said police officer immediately. We also urge you to register an FIR against the said police officer for misusing the process of law in the interest of justice and equality,” Mr Shivakumar mentioned within the letter.
He mentioned that the case was registered in opposition to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on the grievance of a BJP activist advocate KV Praveen Kumar in Shivamogga district.
“The complainant has filed this complaint with a political motive on false information stating that Sonia Gandhiji has tweeted stating that Prime Minister has been misusing the Prime Minister CARES Fund,” Mr Shivakumar mentioned.
“Sonia Gandhi, being an MP and Congress President, had tweeted with the intention of forcing the Prime Minister to use the CARES fund for the welfare of the people of the country,” he added.
DK Shivakumar mentioned that the tweets had been “misinterpreted” by the BJP management and it “instigated” Praveen Kumar to file a grievance in opposition to Sonia Gandhi “based on false information without examining its truthfulness”.
He additionally mentioned that the registration of case in opposition to Sonia Gandhi by police was a blatant misuse of the method of regulation with an intention to snub the correct to wholesome criticism.
A case has been registered in opposition to Sonia Gandhi in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district of Karnataka over tweets on May 11 by the celebration’s official deal with about PM-CARES fund.
