The alleged extortion was reported to the police after the victim’s mother noticed that a huge sum of cash was missing from her locker. The mother is a teacher at the private school where the two boys studied.
It all began when the victim became friends with a Class 10 student at his school. The two boys grew close, and the Class 10 student asked the victim for a loan.
However, the loan agreement turned sour when the Class 10 student failed to return the initial sum of Rs 500 borrowed from the victim. Due to this, the victim refused to lend any more money to the Class 10 student.
INTIMIDATED WITH DEATH THREATS
However, the Class 10 student started issuing death threats to the victim to get the money. Pressured by the threats, the victim would take money from his mother’s locker and give it to the tenth-grade student.
When the victim told a family member about what happened, they also threatened him and demanded an additional Rs 2 lakh, according to the police.
MISSING MONEY FROM MOTHER’S LOCKER
It wasn’t until six months later, during a routine check of the money stored in a locker, that the fraud was uncovered. While the victim’s mother Sidgiddi had kept Rs 11 lakh in the locker, only one lakh was there when she checked.
Upon this discovery, she approached the police about the alleged fraud. The police have filed a case against the Class 10 student and the victim’s relative, Akash Khed, for alleged extortion.
