A unique initiative called ‘Unique Library on Your Doorstep’ has been started by h anubhandha, an organization working to mainstream children living in the Sattanagar area on dumping grounds. This commendable initiative is being implemented in the dumping area with the aim of creating an ideological revolution in these children and at the same time a love for reading is being instilled in them.
Reading not only gives knowledge, but also gives more information about oneself and society. Through the habit of reading this book, many people in today’s society have made their progress and made a different identity, a different impression. In order to mainstream these children living in the dumping area, their conceptual and intellectual abilities need to be developed, for which the Library on Your Doorstep initiative is being implemented.
There is little association between reading and neighborhood children. Even if they want to, it is difficult to do so due to the financial constraints. That is why this ‘Library at your doorstep’ event will be held every Saturday at the BSUP Building in Umberde. For this, 110 books have been made available in Marathi in the form of parables, isopnati etc. Currently, the project will be for the children of Umarde only and in the near future it will also be started for the children of Panbud Nagar, informing Vishal Jadhav of the Anand Institute.
Meanwhile, the children responded very well to Umbarde’s initiative and requested the contracting organization to provide the books of Sane Guruji and Sant Kabir. This made it clear that these children were interested in reading despite being away from the mainstream. Therefore, there is no doubt that the contract initiative ‘Library at Your Door’ will definitely instill strength in the wings of these children.
