Kalyan on 19 August:
The KDMC administration has given conditional permission to start shops in Lakshmi Market, the oldest and major center for wholesale and retail vegetable business in Kalyan. The market was closed by KDMC in late March to prevent an outbreak of Corona. But yesterday, after allowing all shops outside the Corona hotspot area to open, there was a demand to start this market as well.
Located at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Kalyan West, this market attracts a large number of customers not only from Kalyan, but also from the surrounding villages and towns. However, the market was closed on 27 March for the planning and control of the coronation. And from here, fruits and vegetables were looted and taken to four other places. However, there was a demand to start the market in view of the current festive season and corona already having financial losses. Yesterday, KDMC decided to open all shops except the Corona Hotspot area. Subsequently, it has been decided to open shops in Laxmi Market and there is a happy atmosphere among the traders here. KDMC, meanwhile, has given clear instructions on the number of vegetable vendors in Laxmi Market, including opening of shops on even-odd dates to start trading. If it is found that it is not being followed, the order to start the market can be rescinded with legal action against the concerned, the Commissioner of KDMC Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi has clarified.
