As many as nine people lost their lives after a blast took place at the explosives manufacturing factory near Bazargaon village in Maharashtra’s Nagpur. More than 10 workers were present inside the factory when the explosion took place, news agency ANI reported citing officials. The company reportedly manufactures drones and explosives for the armed forces.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Neelkanthrao Sahare’s daughter was among the nine people who were killed in the blast. The blast completely changed Sahare’s life and caused him immense pain. His 22-year-old daughter was his family’s only earning member.
Arti supported her father who walks with a limp due to a paralytic attack in the past, her speech-impaired mother, and a younger sister. Sahare reportedly said that he had waited since 9:30 am to see her dead daughter.
“I don’t want anything, just hand over my daughter’s body,” the grieving father said, as quoted by news agency PTI. The bodies of the workers killed in the blast were still inside the factory premises, PTI reported citing sources.
Another victim, 32-year-old Rumita Uikey, a mother of two also lost her life in the industrial accident. Her father, identified as Devidas Irpati, claimed to have heard about the accident from other people. He was waiting outside the production site. Devidas said that Rumita left behind two sons and her husband works as a farm labourer.
“We have no idea when they will hand over Rumita’s body to us. We are waiting here for that,” Devidas said.
Following the incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condoled the deaths and termed the incident as unfortunate. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he said, “The state government will provide an ex gratia of ₹ 5 lakh to the families of the dead and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has approved the decision.”
