Police said an explosion was reported around 8.55 pm in the furnace of the company while the complainant and other workers were performing the work of powder coating of automobile parts.
The police said the gas furnace at the unit exploded, dispersing metal parts kept inside it in all directions. A total of 19 workers suffered burns after the hot metal parts flung from the furnace fell on them, he said. A case has been registered against the proprietor and management of the unit for alleged negligence.
LPG cylinders explode in Pune
Earlier today (December 27), around 10 Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders exploded in Pune. The blast occurred at a storage site dangerously close to the educational institution, where a staggering number of 100 LPG gas cylinders were stored illegally. The seriousness of the situation was underlined by the sight of several cylinders at the scene, each containing a possible bomb.
Emergency services responded immediately and three fire engines reached the scene. They were able to control the fire before any casualties occurred. Despite the potential for widespread damage, it was confirmed that no one was injured by the explosion or the subsequent fire. The fire department deserves to be congratulated for its prompt response and efficient handling of the situation.
