As per reports, commuters travelling in cars will have to pay ₹350 as toll for a single trip. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the nodal agency for the ₹17,843 crore sea link had proposed a toll of ₹500 per trip. However, the urban development department slashed it to ₹350 per trip to avoid any backlash from commuters.
The MTHL will further connect to the arterial Mumbai Pune Expressway, which links the state’s two largest cities. MTHL is a 6-lane sea link with 16.50 kilometre of the stretch on sea and 5.50 km stretch on land.
Last month, CM Shinde informed the media that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the sea link on January 12, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Sunday. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate MTHL on January 12. This bridge will bring economic development and growth in areas connected to it,” he said.
