In an unfortunate incident, two coaches of a goods train derailed near Kasara in Maharashtra’s Thane on Sunday. No casualties have been reported so far. Following this, as many as two relief trains including Kalyan Station Road ART and Igatpuri Station Rail ART rushed to the accident site.
“Two coaches of a passenger train derailed near Kasara. Kalyan station road ART (accident relief train) and Igatpuri station rail ART (accident relief train) were ordered and moved to the accident site,” Central railway CPRO told news agency ANI.

As many as seven wagons on the JNPT/DLIB Container train reportedly derailed in the incident. Mail express trains on the Down Main line in the Kasara to Igatpuri section have been affected by the interruption. However, the local suburban train services continue to run as usual.
Earlier this week, the engine of the Kolkata-Radhikapur Express derailed and caught fire after it collided with a truck laden with sand in the early hours of the day between Dhulianganga and Ballalpur in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. However, no casualties were reported in the incident and the train was left stranded at Ballalpur village in Farakka after the incident.
