He also promised to restore all roads soon.
Kalyan 5 October:
The KDMC administration has now given its clarification after criticism on the road from all levels including the media. City engineer Sapna Koli has promised to restore all the roads in Kalyan Dombivali soon, claiming that there was no corruption in the road repair work.
In the last two days, four people have been seriously injured due to pits in the road. After these incidents, KDMC has been criticized by the media as well as the general public. It is also alleged that there is a lot of corruption in the road repair work. However, the KDMC administration has denied all the allegations and the city engineers claimed that there is no fact in it. The preventive measures and remedies currently being taken for Kovid have put tremendous financial pressure on the corporation. In this situation, in 9 of the 27 villages of the municipality, 11 agencies have been appointed for road maintenance and repair work and 15 crore 68 lakh works have been sanctioned. Work orders have been issued to start these works by the end of June. The pits are filled with asphalt before the monsoon, with some cool mixing during the monsoon season and asphalting after the monsoon. City engineer Sapna Koli said that such action is being taken by all the officials.
Kalyan Dombivli municipal area is part of the creek and receives high rainfall. During heavy rains, low-lying areas flood and sometimes flood, causing extensive damage to roads. Esphatting is not done during the rainy season and may be unnecessary. Currently, the monsoon is in its final stages and has not stopped completely. Therefore, asphalt is not technically suitable during this period and the pits are being filled with gravel and some cold mixture. Due to heavy traffic, the rocks spread on the road due to rain. Koli also clarified that no bill has yet been paid to contractors to fill the pits, adding that plans to start road repair work in all the wards with rainfall predicted between October 10 and 15 is. Therefore, it is not correct to say that the Municipal Corporation fills pits with stones and mud without using asphalt and this leads to large scale corruption. City engineers also expressed confidence that all roads would be repaired as soon as possible.
Although the KDMC has denied allegations of corruption, it has not commented on the number of people injured due to the pits. The way rain has been blamed for pits in the road. According to this ruling, it should not be surprising if the municipality blames the vehicles for falling into pits and getting injured.
