According to DCP Vivek Pansare, Trikuta, who came to the Kalyan area to sell drugs, was handcuffed by the market police and an opium worth Rs 5 lakh 22 thousand was seized from him.
The three arrested are Suresh Narayanlal Kumhar, Somaram Pralhadji Prajapati and Bharat Gamanaram Chaudhary. Police heroes Sachin Salvi and Nitin Bhosle of the Crime Detection Squad at Bazarpeth police station were informed that some people would come to Kalyan West to sell drugs in Durgadi area. Accordingly, under the guidance of Inspector Dilip Phulpagare, Assistant Inspector PS Sanap, Constable T. K. A team of Pawashe, Police Naik Nitin Bhosle, Sachin Salvi, Sabir Sheikh, GN Pote, Rajaram Sangal and others laid a trap in Durgadi area.
The three were caught by the police when they were coming together on a bike from the old Durgadi bridge at around 3.30 pm. During the investigation Somaram Prajapati’s possession found more than 1 kg of opium. When questioned by the police, he said that the opium in Kalyan was brought from Rajasthan for sale. DCP Vivek Pansare said that the price of opium is Rs 5 lakh 22 thousand and is being sold at Rs 500 per gram. Senior police inspector Yashwant Chavan said that a case under the Prevention of Narcotics Act has been registered against the trio at the Bazarpeth police station.
