Millions of commuters in Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Thane Lok Sabha constituencies are demanding Kalwa-Airoli elevated railway line. Accordingly, in 2015, the then Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had allocated Rs 428 crore in the budget. Rajan Vichare, MP from Thane, Dr. MP from Kalyan are with us for this railway line. MP Kapil Patil said that continuous efforts are being made by Shrikant Shinde as well.
The cost of Rs 428 crore has now reached Rs 519 crore due to delays in the construction of the railway line. The project is being implemented through MRVC with a 50-50 per cent partnership between the Central Government and the State Government. The state government, MIDC transferred the land for this route. MMRDA has constructed 924 houses for the displaced slum dwellers. The development authority of this area is the responsibility of CIDCO Corporation. However, MP Kapil Patil drew the attention of the Center saying that the work was not started as the land was not transferred from him.
In Bhiwandi Lok Sabha constituency, lakhs of passengers from Kasara to Kalyan and from Wangani to Kalyan have to go to Navi Mumbai and change trains. It takes their time. However, considering the inconvenience to the passengers, the railway administration should coordinate with the state government. Also, efforts should be made to transfer land from CIDCO, demanded MP Kapil Patil.
