Presently trains are running Memu (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) on Panvel to Vasai route, and some trains coming from outside the village also stop at these stations.
MEMU train service is provided for passengers by Indian Railways for Nimshri and rural areas. This service is also provided by MEMU on the Virar-Dahanu road route. MRVC is currently conducting all the verification checks to ensure that local services are being started on this proposed route.
Trains running on his route will have to make many changes to their existing system to start local service on this route.
“Signal system will have to be changed to start local service from Panvel to Vasai. Also, due to the MEMU trains, there is a huge gap between the next train and it has to be filled.
Piyush Goyal has asked to study all the changes that need to be made and to look into the possibility of starting a local service, “said a senior MRVC official.
MRVC plans to construct a third and fourth railway line between Panvel to Vasai.
Earlier, Mumbai Urban Transport Project 3A had the responsibility of it, and there was a plan to run the local route. But the proposal was not approved and was sent back to the Railway Ministry for review.
Now it is important to discuss the construction of a local route on Panvel-Vasai and Diva route.
